How To: Use exposure compensation and a flash on the Canon 5D

Use exposure compensation and a flash on the Canon 5D

Should I blow out the background and expose for the shadows or should I shoot them in silhouette against a properly exposed background?

Michael Hanlon demonstrates exposure compensation between interior and exterior lighting environments on the Canon 5D Mark II. You can also use your flash to strike a nice balance between bright backgrounds and dark interiors.

Thanks Michael. Very informative; well presented.

helpful, especially with the examples, but I would have loved to see which dial you were turning to adjust the exposure. I found a backwards way into it, but I'm sure there's an easier way based on how quickly you were adjusting yours. Thanks for the video!
